NATIONAL ANGLO-BOER SOUTH AFRICAN WAR MEMORIAL
HONOURING THE FALLEN
A SYMBOL OF HOPE
THE ANGEL OF PEACE
Of monumental character and an adornment to the town, with a boulevard as a suitable environment
WE HOST EVENTS
The Rand Regiments Memorial and the surrounding parkland offer a stunning backdrop to open air events, from wedding photoshoots to corporate functions. Conveniently located in the heart of Johannesburg’s leafy northern suburbs, the Memorial is a memory of old Johannesburg, and a testament to our shared quest for peace. As such, it forms an eloquent setting for both celebrations and commemorations.
A CENTURY OF HISTORY
VOICES FROM THE PAST
Having stood on the same site for over 100 years, the Memorial is a popular destination for picnickers and school groups who come to learn about the sometimes-troubled past of the Rainbow Nation. With some 769 names engraved on its stone walls, the Memorial is also a place of pilgrimage for the descendants of the men of the Rand Regiments who fell in the Second Boer War – and indeed for anyone who has a family connection to this often forgotten conflict that did much to shape our nation’s history.
